After determining the initial scope of the project, a business case is built with information from the site survey, data gathered through interviews, metric data, and cost factors received from the customer. An extensively documented report is then delivered with performance details and recommendations where appropriate on how to optimize label and system performance given the customer's requirements.

The Business Case Analysis is executed with:

 An as-is Process Flow Analysis, where supply chain and RF system design experts evaluate the customer’s present processes;
 The creation of to-be processes by the generation of various scenarios of applications of RFID technology in those processes;
 An examination of operational data from the customer’s existing ERP systems and financial data (overhead & production costs, total revenue, revenue margin, etc) by a Business Analyst in order to evaluate the to-be processes using relevant historical data.

The resulting document for this step in RFID integration is a report on return on investment (ROI) for each RFID system. Document elements include before/after process diagrams, benefit analysis (cost, time), pain point-to-feature mapping, return on investment analysis and project timeline.
